Mexico Mexico, a North American country that borders the United States to the north and Belize and Guatemala to the south. To the west is the Bay of California, formed from an 800-mile peninsula known as Baja California. Two other bodies of water border Mexico to the east; The Gulf of Mexico and Bay of Campeche, both formed by another large peninsula: The Yucatan. Mexico has a rather varied geography: a large plateau makes up the central region, surrounded by mountain chains to both the east and the west. The plateau opens up to the north, and low-lying coastal regions lie beyond it (Infoplease). Mexico is typically regarded as being a hot, humid, arid place due to the fact that the Chihuahuan Desert, the largest desert in the entire North …show more content…
Mexico is generally divided into five major regions: Northern Mexico, Central Mexico, Southern Mexico, Baja California, and the Yucatan Peninsula (AllAboutMexico.com). The northern region of the country has a very high temperature and the inland climate tends to be very hot and dry due to it being a desert region; however, depending upon the elevation of the area and the time of the year, the climate can be rather mild as is the case for the city of Guadalajara and the nights can be freezing in cooler months (Mexperience.com). Central Mexico is much like Northern Mexico, the days are very warm and dry but nights tend be rather cool. Southern Mexico has a similar climate to Northern and Central Mexicobut is more tropical and humid, except in elevated area like Mexico City which are cooler and more temperate, and gets …show more content…
The rainy season tends to last May to September (sometimes lasting until October) and tends bring with it tropical storms and monsoons. There is very little to no rain during the rest of the year outside of the rainy season. Winters in Mexico, in part due to the country's diverse topology, tend to range from warm to frigid depending upon what region of Mexico one finds themselves in; higher elevations tend to be quite cool compared to lower ones
