Mexico is located in the northern region of the American continent between the Gulf of Mexico on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. Mexico is made up of 31 states and one federal district. The West and South are bordered by the Pacific Ocean. The eastern peninsula faces the Caribbean Sea. The northern part of Mexico is covered by two different deserts. They are the Chihuahuan desert and the Sonoran desert. There are 6,000 miles of coastline in Mexico. Inland and northwestern areas are more dry than the rest of country.
