Mexican Tacos: The Americanization of the Taco
The Mexican taco can easily be recognized almost anywhere in the world. As tacos have various simple methods of preparation, they have become one of the most loved foods in America. According to Boyer (2014) the history of the Mexican taco has been traced back to the early pre-Hispanic times when Mexico City street vendors would feed urban workers. Tacos have significantly developed since they were first introduced in the early 19th century as a Mexican dish.
The Mexican taco is most commonly prepared with a small flour tortilla. The tortilla is then filled with either pork or beef as the main ingredient.

American tacos have a distinguished look compared to Mexican tacos because fast food tacos were made to be easily accessible. “Perhaps the most distinctively Americanized version was the taco shell, a tortilla pre-fried into a “U” shape before being stuffed.” Hard shell tacos were an American invention that gave more options on how to enjoy the Mexican dish. As mentioned in, Mexican American Mothers' Eating and Child Feeding Behaviors “Whether mothers regulate their own intake of simple carbohydrates, and how this affects how they feed their children, is a gap in the knowledge.” Today, almost every food item purchased brings nutrition facts, and that is how I tend to regulate my daily nutrition macros intake. It is good to have the nutrition facts on fast food as well, even though they are over looked. Concluding, Mexican Tacos originated in Mexico. They were initially made for the urban workers of Mexico City. The Mexican taco eventually moved along up north to the United States. Glen Bell revolutionized the taco by creating his fast food chain restaurant, Taco Bell. Since then, Americans now have a wide variety of choices on how they can enjoy this once authentic Mexican
