In late 19th century The Mexican Revolution was getting brutal. war refugees and political exiles fled to the United States to escape the violence. As a result, Mexican migration to the United States rose sharply. Since the turn of the twentieth century, the United States has encouraged and discouraged immigration from Mexico, largely depending on the state of the economy and the nation's labor needs.
