This week’s readings discusses different aspects of the Mexican war. In “Mexican Views of the Mexican-American War discusses the origin of the war between Mexico and the United States, it states “To explain then in a few words the true origin of the war, it is to say that the insatiable ambition of the United States, favored by our weakness, caused it”, the weakness that it’s referring to is the Mexican government. Like we discussed on Thursday, Mexico has always had a chaotic government that contributed the loss of Mexican land. It can be lead to think that if Mexico had a secure government, the loss of the land wouldn’t have happened. Mariano Otero’s “Considerations Relating to the Political and Social Situation of the Mexican Republic in the Year 1847” relates to the previous reading because he explains the Mexican government and weak army contributed to the loss of…
The Quintanilla’s Cultural Family Assessment How does one define culture? In our readings culture is defined as a set of shared views and adaptive behaviors that are derived from a variety of context (Plumer, 2013). When assessed properly a culture assessment could shine the light on a family’s culture norms, values, beliefs, and patterns of thinking, which then could help us heal our patients holistically (Friedman, Bowden, & Jones, 2003, p. 230). On topic, the family we will be assessing was proud and preservative of their culture.…
There's a deeper reflection that existed in the act of telling stories of any kind. Growing up as child the entailment of small talk and tall tales act as a mean to develop the ability to express ourselves in an understanding fashion. The necessary skill of making ourselves known to the world becomes a strong element in gaining a step forward in a direction without guidances. Cisneros “wipes out any illusion of life-likeness, revealing the fictive from of the text” on how the facts incorporated in the novel set the setting as a distorted illusion to reality (Salvucci 170). The paradoxical shift in time throughout the story, created by Celaya’s narrative skill, develops into the formation of her identify “the migration with her family put her sense of self at risk even as those very migration define who she is as a Mexican-American female, and as a storyteller” (Alumbaugh 69).…
Before coming to Full Sail University, I had encountered many obstacles that tried to detour or distract me. One in particular placed a great deal of doubt in my mind and made me question was this what beyond doubt I wanted to do, or who I wanted to become. Pondering should I desert my family that is grieving over our loved one, or follow dreams that she, my grandmother, hoped I’d accomplish? With each passing day that college was approaching this complex question tore me in two. The both of you have doubts I’ve proven that neither of you grasp what computer animation can do, nor where it can lead to moreover that’s what frightens you.…
Slavery in Brazil began around 1532 and lasted until the 1800s. After Brazil abolished slavery, African slaves soon gathered in settlements in Rio de Janeiro. Favelas or shantytowns are inside and around large cities in Brazil, and homes are constructed with brick and cement. Due to poverty in the larger populated areas in the favelas, it was easy for a mother to grieve over her dead baby. People usually mourn when someone they love passes away, in Brazil, people no longer grieved over death.…
Family Theory Assessments and Application of Family Interventions According to the Family Theory, each part of a system is interrelated, dependent on each other, and affects one another (Codina Leik, 2014). Therefore, if one part of the system is damaged or dysfunctional, such as one member of a family, the rest of the system or family is also affected (Codina Leik, 2014). It is extremely important to incorporate this theory into assessments and family interventions in primary care. Both of my preceptors incorporated this system into their assessments and care.…
The Hispanic population is growing exponentially and both the Democratic and Republican parties should be targeting their efforts towards the Hispanic population. The US Census predicts that by 2044 the Hispanic population will exceed the Caucasian population in America. Although Joe García argues that the Hispanic vote is available to either party and cannot be undermined , the Hispanic population is not politically active enough to make a difference in the polls due to a lack of resources, civic skills, and motivation. The growth of the Hispanic population should mean that the amount of resources available to Hispanics is growing as well, but the political resources available to their population is not equivalent to the resources available to the Caucasian population.…

There are multiple health issues facing citizens of Hispanic countries, ranging from underfunded public health sectors to tropical diseases to women’s reproductive health. Health issues in Hispanic countries seem to be caused by multiple factors, such as lack of funds due to economic crisis, an unstable government, and the strong church influence. By dedicating more time and funding to improve the quality of the health care for their citizens, in addition to altering laws involving the church and medical procedures, the overall health of citizens in Hispanic countries can thrive. One major issue that seems to impact the Hispanic world involves women and their reproductive health. Given the strong influence of the Catholic church in these…
One of the most important institutions for a human being is the family. The family is where the individual builds up their manners, values, and morals. Family is also where socialization is mostly affected for an individual. According to Coltrane, family is defined as “a group of two or more people who reside together and who are related by birth, marriage, or adoption” (Coltrane). Employment, pension, and demographic characteristics are collected separately for the respondent and the spouse / partner of the respondent. The majority of the time, the PEU and the household are identical. The use of the term, head of household, is euphemistic and reflects the systematic way in which the data has been organized. A single individual is considered to be the PEU in a household without a core couple, the male is considered to be the head in a mixed-sex couple, and the older individual is considered the head in a same-sex household.
