Back in 1846, when America was still a growing nation, America needed more land for its growing population. Owned by Mexico, Texas and California were large provinces of land, exactly what America needed. America actually ended up going to war for that land, but was going to war worth it? In the Mexican American War, presented by James K. Polk, almost around half of Mexico’s territory up in the North was lost to America. Giving America more strength and power. Some of the states added to America and lost by Mexico were Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, parts of Colorado, California, and Texas. In my opinion though, and for America’s sake, I believe it was necessary for war. America wanted the land, so they got the land. The first and most important reason why I believe we, Americans, were justified for war was because back in the east side, such where Virginia and Rhode Island are placed, it was going economically bad because there were too many people. We needed more land so it would be more organized. You might think thats its not fair for us to take Mexico’s land,but, most of the land there in Mexico was actually disputed and not even touched. Calling America selfish and saying America didn’t have the right to invade Mexico is pure hypocrisy. As you can see, Mexico wasn’t all that innocent as well. Mexican Troops certainly did a number on America. America needed land quick and because Canada had high defense lines and was with the British, it’s not all the smart to go against them. On the other hand, Mexico, with all that unused land and low defenses, they would have been the only other place to take land from. Going to war with Mexico seems unfair to them, but eventually, we would’ve of probably had a war anyways, being neighboring
