Social institutions can play a very big factor in an individual's life especially when growing up that's all you have. For Amy this young middle school student family and education was the key to everything. In fact that is basically how she was raised all her life depending on her family for everything as well as trying to do the most for each other to keep life flowing. Amy comes from a hispanic family who immigrated into the United States two years before she was born. Life has been anything but easy for Amy and her family since coming to the U.S but yet they still continue to try and succeed. Education is a huge part of Amy’s life because it is the only time she can focus on things other than the reality that her family must endures. Not …show more content…
For example if any German or anyone from any other ethnicity migrated to the United States like Amy’s family did legally. They would have a much better opportunity and ability to be able to live out the American dream then any hispanic family in the U.S would ever have due to the ethnicity. It is a proven fact that certain race in this country are valued different than others and all due to the way people label others. Therefore the stigma that Mexican people are bad or different for any reason hurts in this circumstance Amy and her family. The fact that her family is hispanic automatically takes certain job opportunities away from both her parents and giving them to people of other ethnicity. This is an ongoing trend in the U.S because Mexican or African American families aren’t given the same choices or opportunities. Others receive and for this reason is why certain groups of people seem to never escape poverty in this culture. But yet the media and all the higher ranked people still wanna put it on the people. As if it's there fault for being poor and not being able to …show more content…
At a young age my family faced some of the similar changes being very hard to offered food as well many of the other living expenses. While still trying to give me and my siblings the best child hood and give us whatever was needed. I know for my father and mother it was hard for them to get a job while trying to raise there kids and barely making ends meet. The things that Amy seems to encountered are by no means anything easy but she certainly isn't the only one going through them there is many families who have to face this struggle at times and some unfortunately never get out of it. I am certainly blessed and thank my parents everyday for the life they gave me and the opportunity for me to be attending college and trying to pursue my dream each day. Because like many people in this world they weren’t able to follow there dream so that mine would someday come

The Quintanilla’s Cultural Family Assessment How does one define culture? In our readings culture is defined as a set of shared views and adaptive behaviors that are derived from a variety of context (Plumer, 2013). When assessed properly a culture assessment could shine the light on a family’s culture norms, values, beliefs, and patterns of thinking, which then could help us heal our patients holistically (Friedman, Bowden, & Jones, 2003, p. 230). On topic, the family we will be assessing was proud and preservative of their culture.…

Before coming to Full Sail University, I had encountered many obstacles that tried to detour or distract me. One in particular placed a great deal of doubt in my mind and made me question was this what beyond doubt I wanted to do, or who I wanted to become. Pondering should I desert my family that is grieving over our loved one, or follow dreams that she, my grandmother, hoped I’d accomplish? With each passing day that college was approaching this complex question tore me in two. The both of you have doubts I’ve proven that neither of you grasp what computer animation can do, nor where it can lead to moreover that’s what frightens you.…

Alternatively, it may be that parents treat girls differently, but are not aware of it (E. M. Arredondo et al, 864). In an observational study, OlveraEzzell et al. found that Latino mothers were more involved with controlling their daughter’s behaviors than with their sons (E. M. Arredondo et al, 864). If indeed, mothers treat girls differently than boys, their behaviors may be influenced by several factors such as the concern that their daughters will become overweight and likely face health or self-esteem issues. This can eventually lead to serious issues such as teasing by their peer group; these concerns may reflect society’s pressures toward thinness, particularly among women and young adolescent…

Although people assume otherwise, I am Latina, and I'm proud to be a part of that community. I obtain my Latin blood from my father, who moved to the United States from Uruguay as a child. My parents divorced each other when I was young; however, when I was with him for either the weekend or the month of July, I embraced all the wonders of my Latin family. Latino culture entails prodigious amounts of cooking, and we always cooked Uruguayan food; it was almost taboo to eat out. From flan to the glorious empanadas, my family always ate homemade meals.…

Familism or familismo is an additional example of collectivist caregiving that is commonly used in Hispanic cultures, which also encourage individuals to freely provide care (Becker, Beyene, Newsom & Mayen, 2003; Aspesoa-Varano et al., 2015). Mutual support and respect of values, and reciprocity (giving back love and support to family members who have given the same), family obligation, and respect shown for older adults and their wisdom, are also jointly linked to familism, according to Connell and Gibson (as cited in Scharlachach et al., 2006, p.135). One difference between African Americans and Hispanics eldercare practices is that African Americans utilize non-kin as extended family, whereas Hispanics rely more on intergenerational caregiving…

Growing up in a traditional Mexican household, we had a lot of family members that were considered “outsiders”. The only reason that they might have been excluded was simply because they did not share the same beliefs as the rest of the family. Recollecting my middle sister was considered for a good while an “outsider”. The reason being because she went outside the norm of the traditional woman role. At a very young age, she decided that she was not going to be reliant on a man.…

In July 2013 began a wake of the “Black Lives Matter” which is an activist movement campaign against police brutality against African Americans. However, there have been some opinion debates I have heard that the reason for the police are shooting down unarm African American is because they’re white and the way they bought up as a child believing that all African American are evil when that’s not even accurate. The Political and community leader also helps to socialize people and influence public opinions. The media are more pervasive and influential towards children to adults, even though, technology has played important roles to influence people’s viewpoints, priorities, behaviors, and opinions.…
