The first roll that immigrants play is a producer. Quite frequently, immigrants come to America in order to work and make money. Some of the immigrants that come to America, spend their days working in agriculture or in factories. When a company is looking to maximize profits they are often left with the option of “moving workers, and moving production, around the globe” (Chomsky). This means that if companies do not bring in immigrant workers, they are left with the option of moving their factories abroad. When businesses do this, they take jobs away from Americans. For example if a factory has 10 native-born workers and twenty workers from Mexico, they are still providing jobs for ten Americans.
