The painting that I chose is the painting I made for my final project. I chose this painting because it was the one that I had the most enjoyable time making and thinking about. It was backed by research that I really liked to learn about. Making this painting I spent a lot of time thinking before I laid paint down. The research I looked into was the surrealist painters and looking into the fresco paintings and codex writing by the Mexica. When looking into surrealism I was drawn to Magritte’s The Flash and The blank signature. Images of Mictlantecuhtli and Quetzalcoatl influenced my work as well. They are the gods of death and life in the Aztec pantheon.
