In support of the Metro High school's mission of teaching, research, and public service, the Metro High school system provides computers, a network, and resources for the facility, students, faculty, and staff.

Rights and Responsibilities

While the school does provide some computers there may not be enough for all students/employees and therefore students/employees are encouraged to bring their own computers or tablets. The networks can provide access to resources both inside and outside within the area of school grounds. The network will have the ability to communicate with other users outside of the schools network. Such access is a privilege, and requires that users act accordingly. Additionally, misuse can be subjected to prosecution under applicable laws and regulations. Users will be held accountable for their actions/conduct under any applicable Metro High school or Board of Education policies and or procedural agreements. Any complaints alleged misuse of school computers, network and or resources will be directed to the IT department or those responsible for taking appropriate disciplinary action. The reproduction of or distribution of copyrighted work, such as, images, text, or software, without the expressed written permission from the owner is an infringement of U.S. Copyright Laws and is subject to criminal penalties and or civil damages including fines and or …show more content…
Minor breaches of this policy or those that appear to be accidental in nature will be handled informally by email or by counseling discussions. More serious breaches are handled via formal procedures. In some situations, suspension of account privileges may be warranted to prevent continued misuse while the situation is under investigation.

Breaches by students may result in the temporary or permanently disabled account access or a loss of privileges, notification of a student's activities to the parents and/or suspension dependent upon the severity of the misuse. Misuse of services, resources or computer systems by a faculty or staff member(s) will be referred to the information security officer for administrative actions.

Offenses which are in violation of state, and or federal laws may result in the restriction of computer usage, and you will be reported to the appropriate
