Methods To Evaluate Evidence-Based Information

When leaders and managers desire to communicate the valuable information found through the use of evidence-based studies, it is important to consider the method in which to deliver the information, and the audience and users of that valuable information. There are many methods to distribute evidence-based information; however, I will focus on three methods. Presentations, health policy briefs and publications are good methods to distribute evidence-based information and recommendations to stakeholders (Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt, 2015, p.418). Presentations include oral presentations, panelist presentations, and roundtable presentations. Oral presentations involve presenters at a podium. Oral presenters focus on introducing the clinical problem in question, discuss the purpose and “aim of the study” presented, the framework of the study, hypotheses, design of the study, study findings and how those findings can be applied to improve practices. Oral presenters may use visuals in presentation such as slides with graphics. Oral presenter should also be aware that the contents discussed during presentations should also be easily “converted” into publications. Publications include published articles or book entries. These evidence-based scholarly writing are shared through chosen peer-reviewed journals to be viewed by colleagues. Such articles are evidence based papers addressing the clinical questions that may be the direct result of questioning a clinical practice. As a result, these writings may be used to improve patient outcomes and current practices. HERD is an example of a scholarly journal (Stichler & Nielsen, 2014). Authors may submit articles to HERD. HERD requires authors to follow strict formatting guidelines, which can result in submission rejection if not adhered
