7. The rat torture
This method consisted on the victimizer putting a rat or more in a bucket or a bowl, and then placing it on top of the victim's naked body with the opening facing him. They would heat the bowl and this would make the rats look for an exit. Being the victim's body the only way out, they would dig thorough the living person.
This method was used after the Middle Ages too, and it's popular in literature.

It's not a method only used in the Middle Ages, it was used before and after.
Part of the effectiveness of the tortures was showing the victims the process with previous victims, maybe that would made them confess without all the painful process.
There are dozens of devises, some creepier than this, it's hard to tell which ones of them is worse. They cause nightmares, as the creativity of the human mind
