The Metamorphosis is an intriguing piece is to say the least. Franz Kafka is an extraordinary writer who wrote an extraordinary story. A brief synopsis of the story. A hardworking sales man named Gregor Samsa woke up transformed into a gigantic bug. In result, his family, (which consists of his parents Mr and Mrs Samsa and his sister) Grete throughout the story had to cope with the fact he is permanently going to be this way for the rest of his life. To rank the empathy, and understanding amongst the family would be, Grete, Mrs Samsa, and then Mr Samsa. Grete tried to continue to treat Gregor as her brother until her patience grew thin and completely lost all hope on her brother. Mrs Samsa was very emotional with the whole situation and even sobbed when Mr Samsa would mistreat Gregor. Lastly Mr Samsa was just unapologetic on his actions towards Gregor’s transformation. He is the main reason why Gregor died a painful, lonely death reason being, the injury that was afflicted by an apple that was thrown by Mr Samsa. This story can be relatable towards families who deal with the complications of having a child with a disability. …show more content…
Referring to a child who has a disability they also do not meet the ‘norm’ of society and they are different from their family. The principle problem that Gregor and his family had was the lack of communication before and after the incident of him turning into a bug. The family needed to come to terms of some form of communication, and with that communication would come understanding. That understanding would help him overcome his alienation and let the family know that even though he is a bug physically, mentally he can still think like a
