Everyone has power in their own way be it mental or physical. If someone thinks that they don’t have enough power, they might go on a journey to acquire more power. If it it is an animal then the will fight and kill in order to gain more power and become an alpha. With humans it’s not much different. Most people are willing to kill, steal, manipulate, and murder just to gain power and money. The US with imperialism, Macbeth killing the Thane of Cawdor and King just because he wanted to be king and then he tried to kill banquo and his son, and Gregor’s cause of his “change” are an example of this approach. The current events from around the world show that people are just like

An example of this bullying in schools, nursing homes and other public facilities. This bullying looks like one person or group hurting someone with words (verbal), Messing with the mind (mental), or physically hurting the person (physical). All the types of bullying have one thing in common is that one person or group abuse the power they have over another group or person. In the graphic novel of The Metamorphosis displays bullying when Gregor says “Especially given the disturbing what the boss sits high on his and talks down to his employees…”, (Kuper 112). This is an example of verbal bullying because his boss is abusing the power he has over his employees in a verbal fashion. Donna from Profoundly Normal faced a lot of abuse while in the institution. An example of this was when Donna and Earline were raped by a member of the staff. Then when the headmaster found them, they accused her of being sexually curious. Many people across the world struggle with all kinds of hardships. Others think they understand these hardships, but I believe that no one can ever truly understand until they go through it themselves. People who grow up in a better situation could never really know the feeling of being in such a poor situation. One of the major causes of these hardships nowadays is bullying.…

In this passage we can see how hurt and betrayed Piggy felt at the fact that Ralph told the others “his real name was Piggy”. Before this incident happened, Piggy had told Ralph that he didn’t care what he called him, as long as he didn’t call him Piggy. The reason Piggy didn’t want him to call him that was because in school the other students used to call him that due to his weight. What those students did, in my opinion, is bullying. Bullying wasn’t the main reason William Golding wrote this book, of course, but I think he added this part to his novel because he wanted to show the readers that bullying just doesn’t happen at schools, or at jobs, bullying can happen anywhere, even at an island, like it did in this novel.…

Power turns abusive because of human’s innate relationship with this mixed blessing. Throughout time, humans have had uniform ways in their desire for power and the way that they follow those who are in a position of power. The consistency prevalent throughout all regions of the world over the course of history is reflective of how all humans share a natural response when called to follow power and similarly in their aspiration for it. A human’s desire for power is a characteristic that remains universal.…

A book was written about an imaginary but with an extraordinarily real feel, idea of the world had the allies not won the Second World War. With the Japanese and Germans winning the war, they then possess the power to take over the world and occupy America equally splitting the nation into three parts, the middle being a neutral zone. This book happens to be titled, The Man in the High Castle, written by Philip K. Dick. His perception of present day America had it lost the war, gives an eerie eye opening read throughout. The thought of this type of world bogles the mind leaving the reader filled with imaginary thoughts and answered questions of how life would be if a few events and battles would have gone the other way during the war.…

“Power does not make the possessor evil; it is the possessor who uses it in evil ways” (Wilson). Since the beginning of time, power is a force that has been desired and strived for, yet feared by many. Although it often leads to harm, power itself is not destructive; “Like money, power is indifferent in its usefulness to the person who possesses it” (Wilson). In George Orwell’s, Nineteen Eighty-Four, and William Shakespeare 's, Macbeth, the desire to gain power and the fear of losing it, results in not only corruption but a malicious use of psychological manipulation and the demise of many.…
