Throughout my childhood, I saw my father more as an engineer (he pursued mechanical engineering in the college) than as a business-man handling our family business as he always used to apply his engineering logics for every household problems. Be it repairing any machine in the kitchen or handling logistics in the business, he always proved that an engineer always find a unique out-of-the-box solution for every problem. And thus, in my high school, I realized that I share the same passion as my father’s and opted for science as my major stream. From then on I dreamt of becoming an engineer. With decent scores in science subjects, I decided to pursue engineering as my undergraduate degree. I chose Materials and Metallurgical Engineering as my …show more content…
In my freshman year, I became a member of the American Society of Quality and organized various seminars and knowledge sharing session in the college. I also had a great opportunity to represent my college in the ‘International Moon Rover Challenge’ organized by NASA (Huntsville, Alabama) in 2014, in which I worked as a material scientist to design a rover which is compatible with the engineering challenges faced by Apollo-era lunar rover developers. NASA Huntsville prepared a rugged terrain similar to the moon’s surface and the buggy had to cross the finish line in a set time frame. My role also required me to manage the team finances and aid. Our college held 19th position internationally in that competition out of 90 participants. I also became a member and part of organizing committee of the Communication Club, and Art and Photography Club in …show more content…
I enjoyed learning the management concepts taught in these subjects and never missed an opportunity to contribute to case study discussions held in the class. My keenness allowed me to pursue interesting projects such as, during the course of Corporate Finance, I studied the great depression of 2009 and its limited effect on Indian economy due to the presence of black market. Motivated by the fact that I constantly figured amongst the top 15% students of the class in these subjects, I decided to sit not only for core companies during the campus placements, but also for job profiles that allowed me to explore more about the concepts learned in these subjects. I entered a new phase in my career when I was able to get a job at The Smart Cube, a global research and analytics firm, as a Research Analyst. After being placed in the strategic services department, I learned and developed new management and strategic skills. My role involved analyzing client’s requirement and presenting a strategic solution for the same. My first project involved deep dive analysis of different stainless steel supply chain models observed in the US and help our client, a global F&B company, to procure and cut cost for the kitchen equipment it uses. The study demanded us to analyze the information and synthesize

It is important that we exercise our God given right to utilize our sphere of influence to the best of our abilities. Although leadership may gain you more recognition throughout society it is not about the affluence one can acquire; leading is solely about guiding others down a path of success so that future generations can more easily learn from our mistakes to pass down to the next generation.
