Making dreams come true with vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo freezing

Pam McNally, a Texas Fertility Center nurse, dreamed of a family but she and her husband Michael struggled to conceive. After visiting Texas Fertility Center in 1991, Pam learned that polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was causing their fertility struggles. However, they were surprised by a little miracle. “Nine months after we had Sarah, I got pregnant naturally and gave birth to my son Christopher,” said Pam.

According to Pam, “After I had my daughter and son, I thought that I might be finished having children. Michael and I still felt tied to my frozen embryos, though.”

Another baby after embryo freezing

After nearly a decade, Pam and Michael still hadn’t used their frozen embryos. “Time moves so fast when you have children and time kind of got away from us,” said Pam.

However, Pam started to feel the itch to have another child. After talking to Michael, Pam returned to our Austin fertility center where she had undergo embryo freezing. “At this point, the physicians had purchased the IVF lab and my embryos were still safely frozen,” said Pam.

When she went back for her embryo transfer, Pam became pregnant twins. However, she ended up losing one of the babies. “My husband and I were feeling a little overwhelmed by the idea of having twins in our mid-40s, so we were a little sad but ultimately fine with just having one baby,” said Pam.
