Messo Level Intervention Paper

Messo level interventions focus on the small group or organizational level of treatment (Ashford & Lecroy, 2013). Messo level interventions can also involve interventions that work with the connections between the micro and macro level social work (Ashford & Lecroy, 2013). Examples of messo level work is that which focused on small groups (such as families, classrooms, or group therapy) (Maguire, 2002). Because of this, a training that was conducted for fellow trainee interns was chosen to represent a messo level intervention during field placement (Ashford & Lecroy, 2013; Van Wormer, & Besthorn, 2007). This intervention is indicative of messo level work because it provided psychoeducation and hands on exposure to a small group regarding intervention strategies (Maguire, 2002). Further, it served to influence group culture within the organization toward collaboration amongst fellow trainee therapists. Moreover, this intervention is consistent with messo level criteria in that it served to improve the connection between both micro a macro level work by addressing individual level interventions, organizational culture, and worked to bridge these concepts (Ashford & Lecroy, 2013; Maguire, 2002; Van Wormer, & Besthorn, 2007).

The training provided an opportunity to intervene on, and practice group level interventions. It also aligns with the core competency of demonstrating professional skill and knowledge. This is evidenced by the content of the training showcasing an amalgamation of clinical knowledge and skills acquired through attending professional trainings, reading clinical books, learning attained through the MSW program, research, and supervision. This project also acted as an assessment of this student’s clinical
