Messiah Research Paper

Do you think it would be awesome if your parents knew what you would look like and what personality traits you would have before you were even born? Well, in the Old Testament God gave many clues to the characteristics our Messiah would possess seven hundred years before he was born! These descriptions can be found in the book of Isaiah and are known as the Messianic prophecies. In the book of Isaiah, there is a section of prophecy-songs about our Savior. This section consists of chapters forty-two through fifty-three. What makes these prophecies unique is that the Messiah is referred as the “Servant of the Lord.” By reading these passages, we learn about the Messiah’s personality. From Isaiah 42:2-3 we discover that the Messiah will not be an attention seeker and will show mercy toward others. You would think the Messiah would want to draw attention to Himself; however, this wasn’t the case. From the book of Isaiah He is described, “He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets” (Is 42:2). Jesus wasn’t known because of the way he publicized Himself or because He yelled out to people, but because his followers made Him known. In chapter 49 of Isaiah he says,“ He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me” (Is 49:2). When you and your brother or sister are fighting it usually comes down to whom has the better comeback, well Jesus always had the better comeback against his enemies. The Pharisees often asked Him complicated questions hoping to trick Him, but they never could. However, Jesus never tried to start any disagreements and lived a quiet life in Galilee for thirty years. He was humble and as previously mentioned, wasn’t an attention
