“Messe du jour” Is a French piece by the french artist Leonin. Leonin was flourished in the 12th century. He was the leading liturgical composer of his generation, and he was associated with Notre Dame, or the Parisian school of composition. Most of his pieces were collaborated with Pérotin and were sung at Notre Dame as well. Not only was leonin all of that, he was also the first known significant composer of polyphonic organum. Polyphonic organum consists of one or more voice parts accompanying the cantus firmus often in parallel motion at a fourth, fifth, or octave above or below.
