On a first glance the clash of the blue and green against the neutral tan color create an elegant background for the mermaid laying on the floor. The mermaid is colored with a very bright orange and violet to draw the eye of the viewer to the mermaid. One example that is very clearly seen is that of creating balance. The photo on the left side has the ocean and the right has the sand, which allows the viewer to not be overwhelmed by too many objects all over the photo. The dark to light fade in what is meant to be the ocean also creates an easy path for viewers eyes to follow. Unity within the photo is created in a few different ways, but one of the ways that stands out is the color scheme used. None of the colors used are too bright and or vibrant. In the photo Turner records a Waste treatment plant where tons of garbage remains there. The large quantity of small objects concentrate together and create a colorful image. The title of the work give audience an idea where we should heading to but the real thing that helps us associate garbage to stormy sea is the pattern at the left part of the image. At the left there are two parts that are different from the rest of colorfulness, one part is white and one part is black. The border between the white and black is really curvy which really helps to emphasize the sense of wave.…

Dave Barry’s anecdote “I’ve got a Few Pet Peeves about Sea Creatures” is a high level comedy that uses clever word play and sarcasm to reveal a universal truth about pets. The author uses high comedy because it is hard to understand sometimes. The funny things he says are like “displaying the vital signs of an ashtray”(Barry 3). In the story he talks about how all pets will die, and they will not last forever.…

Twentysomething And Without A Plan Twentysomething is a short film directed by Avital Siegel that focuses on the lack of structure in a young woman's life. The film's title becomes the main theme of the story as well, for being twenty something is a feeling of confusion that few are forgiving enough to understand and that everyone feels regardless. This story is full of universal moments and that is what makes it a film worth watching and perhaps even learning from.…

The photographer also uses movement which is created by the waves in the water; it shows that the water is moving and possibly increasing the water depth. I would consider this picture art as well as photojournalism because the photographer is using their creative skills to capture a photo that has a strong emotional effect on the viewer. To some taking a photo may seem very…

In his speeches and interviews his words carefully detail the tragic stories we observe in his photograph. He never verbally tells his viewers what to think or feel about what they are seeing, but his images declare facts. There is no mistaking that when you look at any of Burtynsky’s photos, that we are in a serious epidemic. He brings to light some of the worlds hidden secrets and tells the story of the true cost of our greed.…

Another formal element that he has present in his work is the use of Tone. This is using varying degrees of light and dark to add contrast to an image. He usually photographs in black and white which makes tone so important due to the lack of colour. This helps Boogie's subject within the photograph to be isolated and stand out due to the contrast.…
