Famous actor, Christopher Reeve said, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Many people have things in their life that they deal with on a day to day basis. Some of the people have been through so much yet they still somehow find the strength to overcome the pain and affliction caused by the many events in their life. My grandpa was a hero due to all of the obstacles and hardships he had to overcome in his lifetime. One of the many obstacles faced by my hero Merle Neuton was being in a massive Semi accident. He had to endure over a year of recovery after the crash. The man who hit my grandpa’s semi was trying to commit suicide because he had just found out that …show more content…
During the three months his ribs had only partially healed and his knees were still messed up. All of his other injuries had either healed or mostly healed with the exception of a few injuries. The main reason this is heroic because he could have been lazy and said I was in a semi crash I can’t work. He had such a determination to get better and a love for his wife and children that he got a job on a garbage truck to support himself and his family. The workers would have to help him on and off the truck because his knees were in bad shape. In doing this he could have hurt himself much worse and may have had even more recovery time than was needed. Even after the huge accident he still got back behind the wheel of the semi knowing full well that the same thing could happen. I know I would not want to get back behind the wheel and knowing that I could die. He even drove with his second wife for more than twenty years and would still be driving today if it was not for his …show more content…
One day him and my grandma were going somewhere and he got tired of waiting and decided to go himself and ended up falling and fracturing his hip. The reason this makes him heroic is that he had to go away from home and deal with people he didn’t like and he didn’t get to spend time with his wife everyday. But after a while he started to get more used to it and after his hip healed my grandma started to come see him everyday and eventually take him places to get him out more and so he could have a cigarettes because he couldn’t smoke in the nursing home. These reasons are the reasons my grandpa is a hero. Merle neuton will always be a hero in my eyes because of the things he has had to go through in his life. Most people will never experience having to recover from a massive car accident, or having your wife that you loved, shot in the chest by your son. Like actor christopher reeve said, “A hero is an ordinary person who has to deal with extraordinary circumstances. This to me is what makes my grandpa a hero to
