Meriwether Lewis And Clark's Journey To The West

The characters that should be included in the game are Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, Sacagawea, Thomas Jefferson, Toussaint Charbonneau, Cameahwait, and several of the Native American tribes such as Teton Sioux and Hidatsa. Lewis and Clark were the main parts of the expedition since they traveled from Missouri to the West, and they discovered new species of the animals and plants and met Native American tribes. Jefferson is also important in the video game because he was the one that directed them to go on this journey and to discover the vast, unknown West. Sacagawea and her husband, Toussaint Charbonneau were helpful on this journey since they traveled with Lewis and Clark, and Sacagawea helped the men with meeting the Native Americans.

Meriwether Lewis’s Death When a person hears the names, “Lewis and Clark,” the majority of people think of the two brave explorers leading The Corps of Discovery. Starting in 1803 and ending in 1806, Lewis and Clark lead the Corps on a journey through the Louisiana territory. The purpose of this expedition was to observe the newly acquired land, interact (positively) with the natives, but most importantly to find a clear water route that would be used for trade. Even though a clear, navigable water route was not found, the expedition was indeed successful in the exploration of the new land. Soon after the journey both Lewis and Clark were rewarded with positions to high offices.…

While they were exploring this new territory, they were establishing American presence in the west, that keep any other country from coming in and claiming it for that country. Lewis and Clark discovered and wrote about in their diaries around 120 animals and 180 plants. The relationship with the Indians were never strong, but with the expedition of Lewis and Clark they were able…

In Robert Morgan’s book, “Lions of the West”, it explains the journey of moving and life in the west starting with Thomas Jefferson’s birth through Westward Expansion to the Indian Wars of the west. Morgan also talks about how Jefferson wasn’t the only person to push Westward Expansion to what it is today; sure some politicians and others like Andrew Jackson, James K. The Trail of Tears was Jackson’s Indian removal policy to push the Cherokee nation east of the Mississippi River to present day Oklahoma. James K. Polk and Sam Houston was both apart of the same conflict on the Mexican -…

Devaca, was a man that trust the Lord for all of his guidance.…

The members of the expedition “unwittingly brought new diseases [smallpox] to the area that decimated the local native population. Where the Mandans had a thriving and sophisticated trading center when Lewis and Clark arrived in 1804, by the late 1830s their total population had been reduced to less than 150” (“Exploration: Lewis and Clark”). A comparison can be made between Christopher Columbus and the explorers as they both wiped out a significant portion of the Native American population, as many of them had not developed an immunity to the diseases. Additionally, many Native Americans were forced to convert to Christianity and take up farming. This eradicated the Native’s way of life, which was centered around their religion, traditions, and hunting-a method of gathering food and skins and proving oneself in the tribe.…
