James blogger's statement “If I work hard, I deserve a high grade,” is something I would like to deliberate. Effort should be considered as a high achievement but should not be considered, or be an expectation of an instant “A”, or even a passing grade. “I think that it stems from their K-12 experiences,” Professor Brower also said, “They have become ultra-efficient has in test preparation. And this hyper-efficiency has led them to look for a magic formula to get high test scores.” Parents put this thought in students heads, that when they show or put effort into their school work, they should be handed a trophy. Grade school K-12, also put this thought in students heads when you input effort, the outcome will be the student getting rewarded with the grade they thought or even a passing grade. When collage hits academic skill begin to become harder for the students. They can’t just put in effort and expect to get the “A” they think they deserve. Students need to start to realize that effort should be one of the many things students need to put into their academic lives. Stereotypes about effort affect the way students perform in academic classes. Students everyday walk into their classes with a thought that there papers and or assignments should be graded on how much effort they put into them- academic entitlement. I disagree with that, I think students should walk into a classroom doing the best they could possible can, to understand and comprehend the material. The students should not just put effort into the work, but also motivation, dedication, and understanding to the
