Organizational Assessment
The facility I chose is one I am familiar with as I worked there for over 5 months. Meridian Behavioral Health is a large facility that employs over 1000 employees and services 12 North Florida counties. The facility was founded in the 1960’s, it is a nonprofit, private organization.
Programs and Services
Meridian Behavioral Health provides the community with mental health and substance abuse treatment. The treatment provided include outpatient therapy both group and individual, medication management, inpatient crisis, community crisis intervention, residential, case management, day program for mentally ill and developmentally delayed, and forensic case management. Meridian is one of the only mental health facilities to have permanent therapist in public schools. Meridian does not only provide co-occurring treatment for children and adults but they care about a holistic view of treatment. Meridian has an inpatient substance treatment for pregnant women who are indigent and homeless. They provide resources, teach mothers how to care for their infants, or provide help with the adoption process. Meridian also has a group home to help streamline services and make sure the clients have stable care and housing.

As typical, such extreme change from paper to electronic seemed to be difficult for some employees, however the new system, the new equipment, and the IT department have made the transition easier. Employees are given adequate space, equipment, and are taught how to use all relevant items and technology from an involved IT department. These advancements have helped employees assist clients better through MyHealthStory program and tel-a-health
