The merger between the SIRIUS Canada Inc and the Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc which is the parent company the XM is more than just a telecommunication merger. The major step of it being approved by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is a more than rewarding endeavor. This is because it means that the merger that formed the new organization if now fully functional and well to be strategized into the Canadian telecommunication sector.

The challenges relate to each other in major ways since in the telecommunication sector the different departments are integrated together. This basically means that the finance department and the IT system department have a core relation and work together most of the time. According to Verma (2009), there is no single department that can actually work alone. The second most probable challenge that can occur in this type of colossal merger is the decision making process. This means that as the CEO you will be required to make decision that are appealing to both parties since the merger might be complete but the workers are not well accustomed to working together immediately. According to Hopkins (2009), this is because they used to be competitors and it will take a while to get used to having the same objectives and aims in their planning. The decision making process will be difficult but it has to be met regardless. This is because if the decisions that are to be made are compromised in the event of endeavoring to please everyone, the decision could result to very drastic and ill- directed consequences.
