Meredith Grey Character Traits

There are a variety of words that can describe the personality traits of Meredith Grey, however, the two adjectives that truly represent her are brave and neurotic. To begin, Meredith Grey can be described as brave, let alone, courageous. To prove this point, when Meredith arrives at Seattle Grace Hospital to work the morning of her wedding day, she is happily offered the task of her first solo surgery which was a colectomy, and without a second thought, accepted the offer. When Richard asks, “He got you colon. It’s non-refundable, it’s inflamed, it’s about to go under anesthesia in O.R two. Do you want it?”, Meredith confidently replies, “A solo surgery? I’d take that any day” (What a Difference a Day Makes, Grey’s Anatomy). This demonstrates how Meredith believes she is capable of taking the role of the surgery as head surgeon by accepting the offer, and replying in such a confident manner. …show more content…
Furthermore, although Meredith Grey is brave, she can also be described as neurotic as her past interferes with her emotions and the way she interacts with people around her. When Meredith Grey’s mother, famous Dr. Ellis Grey, was first introduced into Grey’s Anatomy, we learned that she attempted suicide and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s as a result when her boyfriend, Richard, ended his relationship with her. In addition, when Ellis comes into Seattle Grace Hospital as a patient, making a scene and calling everyone amateurs; Meredith hides from her mother and has never told anyone about her Alzheimer’s.
