Choosing the right college was extremely difficult when I was a senior in high school; the only factor I was looking into for my decision-making process was a close kit college. Therefore, I began touring multiple small universities, which brought me to Gwynedd Mercy University. One particular moment really drew me into Gwynedd was when I was with my tour guide. As the tour went on, I watched as she greeted everyone she passed, and the overall friendly and familial nature of the students and the campus became very apparent. By the conclusion of the tour I had already sent in my paperwork to attend the following semester. Gwynedd is different from other universities as students are taught lessons outside of the curriculum for their major as well about the value of Mercy Heritage. It is because of the Mercy Heritage that I have deeply changed within these past year here at Gwynedd Mercy, and as I graduate in three years, I will be a distinctive Mercy graduate. Additionally, my anatomy and physiology course has taught me to be a leader because students were challenged to perform tasks to build suitable leadership skills. For instance, Dr. Oberst began to explain how the sisters of Mercy have worked around the world as leaders taking care of patients that cannot receive medical attention, and this information reassured the students of the importance in the medical field. Afterwards, we engaged in activity to play tug of war which represented the immune system, and I stood up to be a leader by successfully informing others around me of strategies we can use to help us achieve our goal. With all the experience I have received, I have learned that leadership is very easy, and I know in my upcoming years, Gwynedd Mercy will teach me even more leadership skills to help prepare me to become an amazing nurse and become a distinctive Mercy
