I see the purpose of the Queen Mab speech, I think the speech makes Romeo not shy away from the Capulet's party because of a dream that went bad. Mercutio explain the Queen Mab story because she makes bad dreams happen. I believe that Romeo not wanting to go to the party is the reason why Mercutio is motivated to talk about Queen Mab. We start off on line 50 where Romeo says “I dreamt a dream tonight.” which one can assume that since he doesn't want to go to the party that the dream was bad. Which then Mercutio will go on to explain Queen Mab and that a bad dream is just her doing and “That dreamers often lie” which is what he says in line 53. We later go on to line 99 which says “Begot of nothing but vain fantasy” which I believe is saying that dreams are nothing but imagination and shouldn't be taken serious. I think that Romeo not wanting to go because of an dream gave Mercutio the perfect chance to throw together the Queen Mab story. Its a perfect reason to make up that story. Another view of the Queen Mab passage is the sexual presence it brings. It seems like the way Mercutio will say things makes him seem very sexual in the passage not only with the kissing portion of girls but where he says “This is the hag, when maids lie on their backs, “That presses them and learns them first to bear, Making them women of good carriage.” talking about a woman carrying a

Romeo does not want to fight Tybalt because he is a close relative and friend to the Capulet’s, and if they fight then there definitely will not be a way for Romeo to marry Juliet. Unfortunately, Mercutio takes this as Romeo just being weak and scared. He steps forward to fight Tybalt, resulting in Mercutio’s death. Mercutio's last words are “Ay, ay, a scratch, a scratch.…

In the Queen Mab speech, Mercutio describes Queen Mab as a chaotic little devil. Shakespeare uses very detailed imagery to show examples of the mess women create. We can tell he thinks dreams are completely useless by the way he describes Queen Mab. “And sometime comes she with a tithe-pig’s tail/ Tickling a person’s nose as he lies asleep,/…

    Mercutio And Juliet Blame

Mercutio is an interesting character. But, a major reason why Mercutio takes part of the blame for the tragedy is his tendency to take risks, or more specifically, the fact that Mercutio decided to partake in a feast held by the Montagues greatest enemy. Although many could argue that this was Benvolio’s idea, it must not be forgotten that Benvolio is the only character in the book that can reason maturely, therefore Benvolio would have eventually changed his mind once he realizes the consequences or risks. But, then there is Mercutio, he openly goes to disregard Romeo’s…

In Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, the cause of Mercutio's death can be attributed to the circumstances that surrounded the two families. The friction between the Capulets and Montague's family environments was quite a hostile one which supported multiple violent acts. Before Mercutio died, his last few words were, “A plague a’ both your houses!”(A3.S1.L108). Rather than blaming Tybalt for his death, Mercutio put a curse on both the Capulet and Montague houses. The emotional conflict between the families certainly played a dominant role in the death of Mercutio.…

Romeo and Mercutio are is my favorite foil in Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the play while Romeo is sappy and feeble, Mercutio is making jokes and ridiculous speeches(Act 1 S 4 line: 53 Queen Mab speech and Act 1 S4 line 25-29 “Is love a tender thing? It is too rough, Too rude, too boisterous, and it pricks like a thorn. If love be rough with you, be rough with love; Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down.”) This example demonstrates that Mercutio is a rambling joker that can’t take stuff like “true love” seriously.…

Mercutio is known for being the jokester of the play. He doesn’t take love too seriously, in fact, much of his humor regarding love is based in sexual innuendos. " Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down" (1.4) Mercutio openly criticizes the idea of love, often skeptically. Since the entire play is based upon the experience of young love, this kind of character can seem refreshing to the audience as opposed to the more serious and heartfelt moments of the play. Romeo, on the contrary, is very earnest toward love, even if it gets him into a bit of trouble.…

Romeo; “This day’s black fate on moe days doth depend; This but begins the woe, others must end.” (Tybalt is killed in Act 3, Scene 1.) Romeo should not have been holding back Mercutio for it was the wrong place at the wrong time. Romeo and Juliet were moving into things way too fast. They should have took things slower and maybe tried to talk to their families about trying to be together and maybe try and resolve the family situation.…

Close the health gap presented by Michael Marmot discussed the implications of the social determinants of health on the life expectancy, overall health, and quality of health for those who are at greater risk of social determinants of health. Marmot discusses the implication of the social determinants of health in a variety of countries such as the United Kingdom, United States of America, and Canada. Although each country has its own unique culture and population, all are impacted by social determinants of health in similar ways. The first significant thing that struck me during this speech was when Michael Marmot stated that social determinants of health are rarely mentioned in governments, except for the ministry of health. I think why…

The love Romeo and Juliet is known to be based on desires, which influences families and genders in a patriarchy society. Dymphna C. Callaghan essay on “The Ideology of Romantic” argues that the desires in romantic love are benign, and the feeling of love presents as evanescent. Furthermore, the desires in romantic love are based on social conditions and constraints. In this critical response essay, I plan to broach two subjects of desires that Callaghan conjures – the social mechanism through which desire is produce and the topic of Wayward female desire.…

Mercutio takes up the fight on Romeo's behalf for no reason other than that he loves Romeo. When Tybalt comes to fight with Romeo, his threats and his offensive words arouse Mercutio's anger. In fact, Mercutio plays a minor role in this play, but Shakespeare puts him in to arouse the reader's anger by his death. "…
