Mercurial Vapor VIII: An Analysis Of Nike Soccer

Improved Essays
The ad that I have decided to work on was created for Nike Soccer. The product that’s being shown is one of the best soccer boots that Nike has ever crafted. The Mercurial Vapor VIII is known for being lightweight, and because of that many professional players who depend on speed endorse this boot. It is shown being worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best soccer players in this new era of life. The reason being that he’s set and broken many records. Some of the few are being the first athlete to score one hundred goals in UEFA’s Champion League, he is also the first to win two club world cup tournaments with two different teams, and Ronaldo has been the first soccer player to score more than thirty goals in six consecutive season in La …show more content…
Different tactics were being developed and the players were beginning to wear lighter clothing as well. Soccer boots were starting to be more colorful and the manufacturers were beginning to be more creative with all aspects of it. Such as the weight of the cleat, the specific colors, and even the looks which is one of the biggest reason why people purchase them. Another reason why it is targeted towards that group, and probably the biggest detail is the use of star soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo is one of the many soccer players endorsed by Nike, but he is the most famous. In 2016, Cristiano won the Balon d’Or (Golden Ball). This annual association football award is presented to the world’s best men’s soccer player according to FIFA. The award honors the player who has performed the best over the past year, based on voting from journalists. On top of this, Ronaldo is one of the most paid players making over 32 million euros in 2016. The reason he is used in the ad is because many young soccer players including myself look up to him, this I believe is the main reason the product gets …show more content…
The reason being that at the time of the release, these were one of the lightest soccer cleats in the market weighing in at 6.6 ounces. The way Nike and Adidas compete these days are by trying to make the lightest cleats in order to improve performance. When this ad is first looked at, the viewer’s eyes are automatically drawn to the highlighted cleats. In order to make them stand out even more, the poles that he’s running around and the stripe on his shirt are also highlighted. Although professional soccer players don’t practice on stadium grounds, Ronaldo is shown under bright lights doing drills to persuade the viewer that if they purchase those cleats, they too can look like a highly skilled player under those lights with a crowd cheering them

I believe that the commercial successfully sells their product when using well-known athletes, putting the audience in relatable situation, grabbing the audience’s attention, and using a catchy song in the mist of it all. One strategy Gatorade uses to reel viewers in is the use of star athletes consuming their products. In this ad, you can see professional sports players such as Derek Jeter, Cristiano Ronaldo and Dwayne Wade drinking the product in order to enhance their performance. From the beginning, Gatorade uses visuals portraying “hard work”.…
