The structure that is causing the patient symptoms is the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. The lateral femoral nerve gives sensation to the lateral thigh. When the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve becomes compressed or pinched, it can cause tingling and numbness on the lateral part of the thigh.
