The #MeToo movement is a movement that went viral on Twitter and FaceBook because Alyssa Milano Tweeted encouraging women to speak up if they’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted. The #MeToo blew up, the #MeToo movement was retweeted with many people sharing their stories or just admitting that they have been sexually harassed. The #MeToo movement was started to encourage women to speak up against sexual assault or harassment while showing how out of hand it’s gotten, how we are all united together against one problem, and how we can’t just be Tweeting about the problem, but actually work together to solve the problem as a whole.
Sexual harassment/abuse has gone too far out of hand. We need everyone to work together to overcome what is a serious problem all over the world. People all over the world started Tweeting #MeToo to acknowledge that they’ve been sexually harassed/assaulted and that they want the whole world to know. “It’s the hashtag that rocked the world. Since #MeToo went viral two weeks ago in the wake of sexual harassment allegations against producer Harvey Weinstein, Twitter reports that more than 1.7 million women and men have used the hashtag in 85 countries.” (LaMotte). This shows just how alike the situation is in other countries than just in America. Many countries are having problems with sexual harassment/assault, so now altogether if we can unite, then maybe we can end sexual harassment/abuse once and for
