By formalizing our relationship as candidate/mentor I have gained a lot of insight into Cameron’s professional and personal areas of interest. We have found that we have surprising similarities and working styles. It has helped me to understand his goals and be able to advocate for him with senior management and plan for his development on projects that I am managing. The added benefit of working on the same team allows me to help him on a day to day basis and be able to track the work he is doing and help motivate him to track and log the various design stages for his professional registration.
