My freshman year during soccer season, we were in the championship game at a tournament, we went to double overtime and it was into PK’s. I was the only freshman to shoot a PK on varsity, and I was extremely nervous. I had to block out the chanting crowd, ignore the freezing wind, and focus solely on turning my hips at just the right angle. My mental toughness allowed me to make the game winning PK. I knew I had to be mentally tough during state volleyball whenever I had a torn labrum in my right shoulder, tendinitis in my right rotator cuff, damage to my MCL and my LCL, and two bone bruises on my right knee-cap. I had to be mentally tough because I was not 100% physically tough. My sporting career was not always the best, a lot of times I struggled with coaches bringing me down as a player and stressing me out to the max. I am now capable of learning from those experiences and it taught me how to deal with people who try to drag me down. It has allowed me to grow more stable emotionally and

And I've even sat down and cried. In frustration, happiness, and just because that was the only thing I could think to do. But no matter what the situation, I always had my friends to cheer me up, my coaches to tell me beat them next time, and my parent to tell me to suck it up and win the next match. I've had a lot of success while under the guidance of my coaches; Coach Davis, Coach Marko, Coach Hill and Coach Leon. I’ll never keep any of the glory for myself, I owe everything to them, my parents, and my teammates.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

Compare and Contrast The main characters in both of these films played different sports (Jim played and coached baseball, and Pre was involved with distance running), but there still are some similarities and, of course, some difference between these two athletes. In both of these movies, extrinsic motivation, intrinsic motivation, mental toughness, fan support, pre-competition routines, and pep-talks all played a part. One thing that was very different was their motivation to play the sport. While Jim was mainly intrinsic motivated, he did have extrinsic motivation to get him to try out for the major league again in the form of a bet.…

Calm composed mind and strong work ethic have been the characteristics of a wise man. Fortunately, I have acquired these traits through football - the sport that I love. I have never been the most skilled defensive lineman throughout high school football, but a composed mind and strong work ethic have given me an edge. In tenth grade, I decided to play tackle football (a sport that I have not played in a long time) and in the beginning everything seemed like a struggle. One example is when the coach asked me to run a route that I have never heard of in my whole life a matter of fact I did not even know what it was, but with time and a cool head I found everything out.…
