Mental Illness can be described as a wide range of conditions that affect mood, thinking, and behavior. Some of the different types of mental illnesses are bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. These mental illnesses are some of the most common types. Having these disorders can have major effects on how one may function in the real world and how they able to interact. Mental illness affects people’s ability to function in their everyday life.

Schizophrenia is often found between the ages 16 and 30 and in some very rare cases little kids can be diagnosed with the mental illness as well. Unlike other mental illnesses symptoms for schizophrenia fall into three categories positive, negative, and cognitive symptoms. Anxiety is one that affects many Americans and their ability to understand that they cannot control every little thing that they want to. Someone with anxiety has sever panic attacks and because of that many patients diagnosed with the mental disability are taking medication to help them. There is also depression a major illness affecting millions of people all over and their ability to function which we discussed. For many of the mental illness out there you can be treated but you’ll never be able to function and go about life like someone that doesn’t have a mental disorder. Not all treatment can fix your illness like you would hope but they often make problems worse and they leave a patient feeling impaired and are nowhere near being able to function.
