Mental Health Screening Essay

Each refugee will be required upon arrival to have a general physical and mental health screening. The initial physical is required to make sure we can catch any ailments right away so any medicine or treatments can be started as soon as possible. The mental health screening is importation because moving from a different country as a refugee can be very taxing on the mental health of an individual. After the first mental health screening it will then be decided if the individual requires regular counseling, or just regular monthly checkups. Along with general medical visits, the families will receive help in setting up at least one dentist appointment during the ninety days. During the first month the refugees are here, all individuals over the age of eighteen will be required to attend workshops in job skills provided by the WRFV in either Oshkosh or Appleton. Job placement of at least one member of the family will be very important because the families will receive enough funding money to get them through approximately ninety days. To help individuals with finding jobs I will also encourage local businesses to reach out to the refugees with jobs that are available. There are a couple possible restrictions that I may run into when it comes to providing job training and employment. The first possible restriction is making sure the refugees are following through with attending the job training workshops. The other possible restriction is dealing with gender roles. In Rwanda the women of the household take care of the home and the men go out and work (Everyculture.com n.d.).
