Nursing has always been more than a career for me. As a young child, I expressed an innate emotional understanding of empathy and found great satisfaction in caring for others. Although, it was not until my father’s diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, did I fully begin to understand my true passion for nursing. Witnessing the collaboration between a multifaceted team of providers, and the quality nursing care that he received was astounding. Following my father’s passing, and after completing a student nursing internship at the Mayo Clinic, I became a 2005 summa cum laude graduate from the Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing program at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, CO.
