It is not only children and elderly who are sufferers; it can affect anyone in the population including prisoners, youths, men and women. The rise in mental health statistics is not being recognised as much as it should be and many people overlook disorders such as anxiety or depression, writing them off as something else or unimportant. However, this then leads to further problems along the line; therefore I believe the rise in care amongst the NHS is vital in order to compensate the rise in mental health cases and I would love to be part of a team that in the future could make an impact on the mental health of …show more content…
The patients were suffering from Epidermolysis Bullosa, a severe skin condition, yet they were so grateful and praising for what we had given them that it evoked a feeling of pride and satisfaction inside me and I just wanted to do more for everyone. Consequently, I have been in recent contact with both Epsom and Kingston Hospital for future volunteer work and I am hoping to commence this at Kingston Hospital towards the end of November as a welcome and within the canteen for patients. I believe that this would be beneficial for me in Mental Health Nursing because I am becoming familiar with talking to patients and can engage in conversations, gaining valuable work experience which will go in my favour in the
