We are going to discuss about the framework of health and individual wellbeing in mental health care practices. Different theories of communication which help in building the professional and the therapeutic relationships are also touched in full in this article using a case study. The skills of the nurses which make them to be effective and compassionate to the patients while keeping them safe are also discussed in this article. The person chosen in this article is a substance misuse patient. She is being taken care by nurses because of her drinking problems. Currently, the patient is practicing abstinence from taking alcohol. The mental care and planning assessment which has helped her reduce the intake of alcohol and the communication skills used by the doctors has really helped her a lot in achieving the goal of abstinence from alcohol intake. Baclofen has been prescribed by her doctor which has helped her maintain abstinence in taking a lot of alcohol. In conjunction with this medicine, proper follow up of the nurses has also helped her maintain her status of abstaining from alcohol.
