Most of the issues that come across my desk as a Navy Career Counselor are a lack of clarity, no sense of bridging, fear of exploration, and lack of dedication. One of, or any combination of the above, can cause depression or low self-esteem. All of which can lead to mental health issues. Harm from impulsive behaviors such as suicide can never be undone however, many counselors and therapist believed that they can be controlled. Impulsive behaviors can be controlled learning how to be mindful of our actions and learning how to properly communicative our feeling. Lidia Zylowska, M.D., a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in adult ADHD and penned the book The Mindfulness Prescription for Adult ADHD. Theorizes that with practice, you can start identifying what precipitates your impulsive acts. Since we live in a society that lives by the montra “can’t teach an old dog new tricks”; let’s teach new dogs new tricks. This would mean teaching children the necessary skills to start identifying what precipitates their impulsive acts and control them. If adults have been successful learning this, children who learn and absorb new information would surly catch on
