Mental Health is Everyone’s Business Mental Health carries a “negative stigma” within our society. There are individuals who may suffer from various Mental Health disorders such as Bi-polar disorder or Depression, but are afraid to share their personal struggles in fear of being judged by others. There was a girl that lived in a nearby neighborhood who had behavior problems in school like fighting and disrespecting teachers and family members. On one particular day, she hit a teacher because she felt like she was being provoked. The school called the truancy officer and she was taken to a juvenile detention center. However, this may not be the case for all students. It depends on the disorder and whether the student is receiving the right treatment. Nevertheless, Mental Health is everybody’s business. It affects everyone in the community because someone who is suffering from a Mental disorder may want to harm themselves and possibly others. If they are not taking the time to take care of themselves by receiving treatment with medication and counseling, then they are putting everyone is harm’s way. As human beings, we should want to take care of one another. For example, if you know someone who is suffering from a Mental illness, you would want to take the time and get them the proper treatment. It would be wrong to place them as an “outcast” because no one took the time to get to know why they act the way that they do. There are programs available for individuals that may want to discuss their Mental disorder with others that are like them. Also, there are programs for individuals that want to learn how to deal with people who have a Mental
