Racial Discrimination: Mental health effects of Discrimination

Also can lead to mixed emotions to the opposite gender. They can feel a negative way to the opposite gender and the effects can be a strong hatred because the other gender may think they are better than that gender. Racial stereotyping is the post common out of the three. Racial stereotyping can lead to many accidents such as Travon Martian and George Zimmerman. George Zimmerman a white men saw Travon Martian African American with his hood up and it was dark a thought he might have been up to no good. So he knew from past racial stereotyping that black man are never up to any good so George Zimmerman shot and killed Travon Martin base off of Stereotyping. Since George Zimmerman did this he has to feel depression to his everyday life. George Zimmerman said he thinks about it every day and his mental affects are anxiety, depression and suical thoughts. They found that African Americans may have a poorer health than any other race. Based off of two mechanism “First, chronic exposure to racial discrimination leads to more experiences of daily discrimination and, second, it also results in an accumulation of daily negative events across various domains of life, from family and friends to health and finances “(The mental Elf, 2015).
