Taking a mental health day from work can be very beneficial if you need time or if you are in a tough situation. People that need a mental health day could need it for depression, anxiety, or if they have problems that they need to think about or need time to settle in. “If you’re behind on your bills and taking a day off to tackle your budget could help you feel as though you’re back in control, it may make sense to take a day to address it so you can reduce your anxiety”(Morin). So it is very beneficial for you to take mental health days. Some people may need to take mental health days for appointments. Mental health days can potentially make you feel worse then relieved. They can cause you to keep a fixed mindset on the problem. People might think about their problem less at work and keep their mind off it. “Force yourself to get up and get moving. Pushing yourself to accomplish something can help you feel better” (Morin). Going to work instead of taking a mental health day can be more beneficial. Mental health days just force you to think about your problems. “Give out a few genuine compliments, smile at your co-workers, and make eye contact—even if you don’t feel like it. You’ll proactively increase the chances you’ll have positive interactions. Additionally, carve a little bit of alone time into your schedule each day”(Morin).
