Mental Health Counselors and Professional help people manage and overcome various of emotional and mental health issues. These professionals can work on various settings. Most commonly you will find mental health professionals in either a clinical or research setting. These researches often work closely with other professionals in the community. These professionals include law enforcement, psychologist, urban and regional planners and social workers. The Requirements for Licensure The education and practical experience that is required to obtain the needed licensure to practice as a mental health counselor varies between state to state. Since mental health counseling is considered to be one of the core mental health professions, the distinction comes with its own set of required education, training, and practices.
In most states, the educational requirement to obtain licensing as a mental health counselor is a minimum of sixty hours of graduate courses in Mental Health Counseling or an equivalent course of study is required.
