John’s sister inherited a behavioral health illness from their biological mother. This harbored her from being able to make sound decisions for herself. Which in turn effected his sisters, Meredith’s cognitive abilities as well as social and behavioral functioning. Lamar being and infant could do nothing to improve his own situation. We were made aware of several needless ambulance rides to the emergency room. Lamar seemed overall healthy, but lacking developmentally. We knew Meredith only had so much and had limited means. She was in a government aid program to help feed and help with Lamar’s medical cost. She never seemed to have food vouchers from Women and Infant Care. I knew some people relied on selling them for other essentials or just income. Much of these things I learned during my many years of being an aunt and by learning how the “system” works.
