Mental Disorders: The Role Of Sex Addiction In Women

When I think about addictions, I quickly recall addictions to nicotine, alcohol, or drugs. I would rarely think of sex as an addiction. As Paula Hall stated, I would have probably reworded sex addiction as hypersexual. With the advancement of technology, I could easily see how a person may develop a sex addiction by using porn, cybersex, and personal ads. These things can easily be found by simple internet searches that displays hundreds of results.
Despite sex addiction affecting both genders, women are subjected to harsher stigmatization. While males may be referred to as being a player and receive praise from his peers, women do not. They may be called derogatory terms such as a slut or whore and will receive criticism from her peers.
