“The DSM III Revolution” is written by Allan Young. He is an anthropologist. He believed that PTSD is not another diagnosed we suffered. His book is divided into three parts. First part is the history of the concept of psychological trauma, second part is the development of DSM-III and the construction of the diagnosis of PTSD and, last part is his two years research material of the diagnosis and treatment of PTSD. He argued that PTSD or the traumatic memory is made by human itself. He supported his argument about his researches about the treatment of Vietnam veterans with PTSD.
“The Post-Traumatic Stress Trap” is written by David Dobbs. He talked about the diagnosis of PTSD’s problem. PTSD is defined with broad criterion and result of diagnoses is exaggerated. And they wanted to say that it is too board to know exact name of disease. Two readings brought up example of soldier’s PTSD, which mostly are not. Some people have serious problem but that is trauma something horrible happen. However, the soldiers have to take a time to go back from civilian life. It is not easy but some psychiatry misunderstood that solider, who experienced like nightmare or wounded, have PTSD and they got wrong treatment.
