Mengele's Experiments-Personal Narrative Essay

Of the people Mengele experimented on, his favorite group Delete were twins. While at the boarding ramps Mengele would ask if there were ever any twins in the mix, most of the time duping mothers into a false sense of hope that their children would survive. Eva Mozes Kor, a twin and fortunate survivor of Mengele’s science recalls:
“When the doors to our cattle car opened, I heard SS soldiers yelling, "Schnell! Schnell!", and ordering everybody out. My mother grabbed Miriam and me by the hand. She was always trying to protect us because we were the youngest. Everything was moving very fast, and as I looked around, I noticed my father and my two older sisters were gone. As I clutched my mother’s hand, an SS man hurried by shouting, "Twins! Twins!" He stopped to look at us. Miriam and I looked very much alike. "Are they twins?" he asked my mother. "Is that good?" she replied. He nodded yes. "They are twins," she said.

Mengele was also very thorough in his “research”; not one inch of a victim’s body would be left unchecked and unmeasured before he started his experiments. His experiments ranged anywhere from: injecting blue dye into victims eyes to try change their eye color, leaving patients partially to completely blind to burning people with “phosphorous matter taken from incendiary bombs”, so as to test the “effect of various pharmaceutical preparations on phosphorous burn”(“Josef”). Mengele also tried to sterilize young children by mutilating their sex organs. This man used all the tools he had at his disposal to inhumanely torture and experiment on his innocent subjects. He had an endless supply of victims and the funds to test any experiment he wanted
