She brings up a very good point about homosexuals and their mindset of sex. How gay men are not restricted in their choice of partners, and how lesbians are more conserved to their one partner, would rather not sleep around, are loyal to each other and aren’t as sexually invested. But in some studies, it is shown that lesbians have somewhat of a masculinized brain, and men that are gay have somewhat of a feminized brain. With choosing a partner, based on surveys by Professor Buss, men believe youth and beauty are the most important traits in their women. With women, they find ambition and financial success to be the greatest trait among men. With that as proof, Angier states that with the reason for women wanting successful men, shows men have the upper hand in a job aspect. Stating that men own the vast majority of the world wealth, that men have the upper hand to money and are more adept to receive better pay over women. But for either it is punishable to commit adultery or anything along those lines when it comes to laws and infidelity. Angier gives an example from Steven Pinker’s book about President Clinton’s adulteries. Pinker’s example is about how cavemen back then can carry on descendants with 50 women and have traits but a cavewomen wouldn’t carry on descendants no differently than a one man women. Explaining the need for men to be active with more women to keep his demeanor higher, because as a man settling down is a coward act. But in reality it was to carry on and populate back then, and as Angier states it is harder to make sure a women will be pregnant each time, because you can never guarantee that the one time he will produce a baby. She brings up the point that a man would have to search far and wide, and usually
