Men are expected to be the head of the household, by providing shelter, food, and any other needs of the family. It is against social norms for a man to not have a job and stay home to take care of the kids. These expectations are encouraged by movies, TV shows, and commercials. Men are often portrayed as strong and quick-witted and usually solve the problem in the story. So as a child, men try to emulate what these stories depict what a man should act and how he communicates with others. A lot of the affects have to do with gender inequalities. Women’s inequalities tend to be acknowledged more than men’s because of the history of women’s struggle for equality. Recently both genders breaking their stereotypes, men and women no longer have to abide by the traditional social norms created by prior generations. In relation to breaking and enforcing gender stereotypes, the media has always played an important part.
