Men and women, in multiple ways, are vastly different from each other. Throughout the decades, the two sexes have developed in contrasting ways. Through stereotypes and social norms they have both developed emotionally and mentally. As a result of this, men and women have unique mannerisms that is unlike that of the opposite sex. Though these mannerisms are stereotypical and do not pertain to everyone, they are true for countless people. In the majority of cases the ways women and men apologize, their sense of humor, and their emotions are vastly different. Men and women typically tend to deal with situations in diverse ways. Deborah Tannen discusses these feelings in her writing I’m Sorry I won’t Apologize. One difference between women and men is that some men fear admitting fault. While many women will quickly apologize when they are at fault, many men have difficulties admitting and apologizing for their actions. Women also tend to feel guilt more than men do, which is why they are quicker to apologize. Sometimes when one apologizes, they do not truly mean it. Apologies should be noticeable in the face and in the voice. Occasionally, men have trouble expressing their true feelings, which could be why their apologies may seem less sympathetic than one from a woman. The article mentions that apologies are a sign of weakness. Stereotypically, are strong and do not show weaknesses. Since men aspire to appear as the stronger and dominant sex, they avoid situations and actions that may portray them as being weak. If a man appears weak, they believe that someone will take advantage of them. On the other hand, women reward and embrace each other who do not believe they are superior to the others. Though no two people are the same, many people are similar to each other. This mainly pertains to members of the same sex. An example of this being men wanting to appear as being humorous and tough while women tend to be sweet and innocent. Though not everyone fits into all the stereotypes of their sex and may fit to a greater degree into the stereotypes of the other sex. There are many differences in men and women such as their senses of humor, the way in which they apologize, and emotions that they feel from certain situations. In conclusion, men and women are, in many ways, very unique from one another. The differences of men and women balance out the world and give it variety.
